Major Writing #1

This assignment is the usual requirement of 5 pages and the subject regards the discipline that we may be entering in the future. In other words we are writing about the field we plan to head into. We must include six sources and if we want to we can include an interview that we conduct ourselves with someone in our regarded field. This is unlike any assignment I have ever done so I am interested and excited for it. -what is the difference between academic and nonacademic writings? -does an interview count for one of the sources so we do not have to include 7 sources -when is this due?

Diagnostic Blog

I have a very strong background in historical writing. Things like LEQs and DBQs I thrive at. Along with that, it is very easy for me to find a common theme with documents and discover a common thesis.  However, this is not the writing of my field, seeing as I am a Biology major. I have not done a bunch of research about writing for publication kind of papers in the healthcare and science field. That concerns me a little about how well I will adapt to that. I would love to learn how to write better as a scientific writer and move a little away from the current writing style I have. Although it has helped me in the past, and I will still use it for regular writing, I would like to develop a new writing type. If I could achieve this, I would be all the more adapted to the field that I will be entering in a few years.

Influential Writing Effects on My Life

When I was in Elementary School I read the book series labeled A Series of Unfortunate Events. After finishing this series my life was changed forever. These books opened my eyes to the world and all of it's dark horror. This series was not like your classic childhood stories. It was about a demented man trying to kill three children who had be orphaned at a early age and all of their trivial trials throughout their life. I amazed me as a young child that anyone would want to hurt kids of all people. The pessimistic outlook portrayed throughout the series widen my view to see that not everyone had my best intentions in mind. Furthermore, it turned my gaze of the jolly world into a more cautioned and defensive outlook that followed me into the rest of my life.
